You can help birds by participating in Audubon’s Climate Watch program!
Climate Watch is an important community science project started by the National Audubon Society to understand how birds are reacting to climate change and to test our climate models.
If you can devote approximately 3-4 hours to collecting data on the day of your choice between January 15 – February 15, this training is for you!
During the training, you’ll learn how to identify species such as White-breasted Nuthatch, Eastern Bluebirds, and Eastern Towhee, and will be taught the Climate Watch methodologies you’ll need to know for data collection and to report your findings. You’ll also be able to choose your Climate Watch location(s) from the map we’ll provide.
Carey Wentz, the John James Audubon Center’s Bird Care Coordinator, will lead this exciting training session which will be followed by a short bird walk around Mill Grove so you can practice your learnings before Climate Watch gets underway on January 15th.
Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, including appropriate footwear. A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow.
Please register here so we know to expect you.
