Audubon Mid-Atlantic invites you to join us for this year's I Bird I Vote Conservation Summit for Maryland. This day of conservation and conversation will provide you with opportunities to learn how to advocate for Maryland’s birds and the places they need to survive. Scientists, advocates, and officials will come together to highlight Audubon’s policy priorities that will address the impact that climate change and habitat loss have had on birds, as well as actions all of us can take to protect birds. The event will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and includes lunch, coffee, snacks, and all sessions.
We are pleased to announce that Maryland Department of Natural Resources Secretary Josh Kurtz will be joining us again this year to speak about the state's conservation priorities. Below is the day's agenda, which is subject to change:
9:00 am: Welcome from Audubon Mid-Atlantic
9:15 am: Federal Policy Priorities with National Audubon Society
9:45 am: Renewable Energy in Maryland with National Audubon Society and Kristen Harbeson
11:00 am: Marsh and Coastal Work in Maryland with Audubon Mid-Atlantic, MD Coastal Bays, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation
11:45 am: Lunch and Bird Walk
1:00 pm: Maryland Legislative Priorities: Audubon and partners, including Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Safe Skies MD, MD League of Conservation Voters, and more!
2:00 pm: Issues for Environmental Advocacy in Maryland, including the Piedmont Reliability Project, Menhaden Harvesting, and the State Budget impacts on conservation in Maryland
