Join Audubon Mid-Atlantic’s Damien Ruffner, Audubon Program Manager at The Discovery Center, for an introduction to the wonderful world of birding.
Birding (aka bird watching) has been a pastime for centuries. But it can be intimidating to start. "Where do I go to watch birds?" "What equipment do I need?" "What do I look for first?"
This program is designed to answer those questions and introduce the world of birding to new audiences, novice birders, or anyone with an interest in the outdoors. We’ll take a deep dive into the equipment, techniques, and codes of conduct of birding and, since it is fall migration season, we’ll focus our birding on migratory birds.
A short bird tour will follow the presentation for those who wish to try out their new skills, so please dress for the weather, including appropriate footwear.
All ages and experience levels are welcome. A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow.
Note: there are TWO workshop sessions to choose from: 9am-11am or 1pm-3pm.
Please register here so we know to expect you.
