Sunday, September 29th is Community Day at the John James Audubon Center! Everyone is welcome at this annual event where we will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through the lens of fall migration, highlighting the places birds are traveling to for the winter and their unique ability to connect communities across the Americas.
Festivities will feature Mexican folk dancers, a bilingual bird tour, songbird-themed activities for kids, bird ambassadors, a taco truck, local breweries, canoeing, and more as we say so long to many of our feathered friends until next spring and celebrate the culture of their winter destinations!
A special highlight will be screenings of an environmental short film created by Latino community youth with the support of Centro de Cultura, Arte, Trabajo y Educación (CCATE). Following in the footsteps of the 2016 CCATE film "Dreams/Sueños,” this cinematic poem produced and edited by students reflects the deep connection and appreciation our children have for the beauty of nature.
Free shuttle service between CCATE and the center will be available every half hour from 11:00am-4:15pm.
The first shuttle will leave CCATE (1246 W. Main Street, Norristown, PA 19041) at 11:00am. The last shuttle will leave the center at 4:15pm.
